Snowshoe Hike

They say walking on snow with snowshoes is like walking on sand, where each step is light and floating. The snowshoes spread your weight evenly over the snow, so you almost glide above the soft, untouched surface without sinking in. It’s a dreamlike feeling of weightlessness, with each step soft and gentle, just like walking on sand.

This trip starts with a minibus ride along the Aurlandfjord to the Stegastein viewpoint, 650 meters above sea level. You’ll be introduced to snowshoes, how to use them, and their history. During the 1.5-hour hike, your local guide will share insights into mountain farm life, the dramatic nature, and local culture.

You’ll enjoy a panorama view of the fjord, the towns of Aurland and Flåm, and surrounding snow-capped peaks. At the turning point, you’ll be served hot beverages and have time to appreciate the peaceful beauty of the area. There will be plenty of photo opportunities. On the way back, we’ll stop at Stegastein for one last view before returning to Flåm.

Perfect for beginners, this tour is a great way to experience Norway’s winter nature. Warm clothing is recommended.

Important: General fitness, but no experience is needed for this tour. Please read our guide on how to dress for a Fjordsafari Snowshoe hike
