Fjordsafari & Hike
Join us on an active adventure from the fjord to the mountain!
Practical information
Join us for an exhilarating adventure that takes you from the fjord to the mountains!
We begin the day with a 1 hour and 45-minute FjordSafari boat ride through the stunning Aurlandsfjord and into the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord, reaching the charming hamlet of Bakka, located at the narrowest and most scenic stretch of the fjord.
On our return journey, we’ll stop at the Skjerdal pier to embark on a hike towards the Leim Mountain Goat Farm. This hike, which takes approximately 1.5 hours uphill, ascends the valley to an altitude of 400 meters. Along the way, you'll be surrounded by breathtaking scenery, including fjord views and cascading waterfalls. Please note: The steep hike requires moderate fitness levels.
Upon reaching the farm, our hostess will guide you through a tour, revealing the secrets behind making traditional goat cheese. In this idyllic setting, relax on the farmhouse terrace while enjoying a goat cheese tasting and a delicious lunch prepared with local produce.
After our time at the farm, we’ll hike back down to Skjerdal (approximately 30 minutes) before returning to Flåm by minibus.
Important Information:
You’ll need sturdy hiking shoes and clothes suited for the outdoors, rain attire if needed. Read our guide on how to dress for a summer hike with Fjordsafari.
Please inform us in advance of any allergies or if you are pregnant, as the cheese served at the farm is not pasteurized.
A good level of physical fitness is required for the uphill hike. This trip is not recommended for those with back or knee issues and is designed for those seeking an active experience.
