Mt. Prest
– Panorama view of the Aurlandsfjord!
Practical information
Join us for a challenging hike to Mt. Prest!
Prepare for a strenuous hike that takes you high above the fjords. This excursion begins with a drive from Flåm to the Stegastein Viewpoint in our comfortable minivan, where you can appreciate stunning views before we continue to the car park.
From the car park, a well-trodden path leads up the steep northern edge of Mt. Prest. This hike is demanding, with significant elevation gain and steep drops along the fjord side. At approximately 1,000 meters, you’ll encounter a particularly steep section where the path narrows and may be covered with loose stones. Those with a good fitness level will find the challenge rewarding, as the views improve with each step.
Upon reaching the cairn at 1,363 meters, you can enjoy panoramic views of the fjord and the surrounding landscape. This area, known as Røyrgrind, is where many hikers choose to conclude their ascent. The impressive cairn features a box with a notebook, allowing you to leave a record of your visit. Take a moment to breathe in the fresh mountain air, savor a Norwegian hiking treat, and capture a fjord view selfie before retracing your steps back to Flåm.
